Wapping, where London Dock is nestled, is an area that boasts a rich maritime history and houses iconic landmarks. As you walk the cobbled streets and explore the hidden corners, you'll encounter The Prospect of Whitby, one of London's oldest pubs. Standing proudly since the 16th century, this historic pub has welcomed sailors, artists, and locals throughout the centuries, offering a glimpse into the city's maritime past.
Continue your journey to St Katharine Docks, another oasis of tranquillity amidst the urban hustle. Originally constructed in the 12th century and later redeveloped in the 19th century, these docks have witnessed the comings and goings of vessels from around the world. Today, St Katharine Docks is a picturesque marina, surrounded by cafes and restaurants.
Here are just a few spots that you shouldn’t miss while exploring London Dock.
Fantastic spot to start your day at. Brunch menu is delicious, my choice was Turkish eggs and it was so GOOD! It came with a slice of charcoal sourdough and I can’t recommend it more.
Lovely handmade sourdough sandwiches, bread and bakes for take away from a cute van in Arrival Square at London Dock.
Amazing new Thai restaurant by Rosa’s founder Saipin Moore offering authentic recipes not adapted to Western tastes like this Sen Su Kho Thai that I tried. You simply have to try it!
Champagne Route is one of the best champagne bars in London! If you love bubbles, this is your spot to indulge - perhaps with a side of caviar?
