10 reasons to experience Chicago in winter
Choose Chicago for your winter city break
If you read me for a while you know that I’m not a winter person. I love summer, sunshine and feeling seasalt on my skin. I have been to Chicago in July a few years ago and it was the best trip but I was not sure about experiencing it in late November when the winds are strong and temperatures are often freezing. Fast forward to the trip and my conclusion - Chicago can be your best ever winter getaway! It was certainly the best trip of 2022 for me. Here are just a few ideas what to do when it’s below zero in the Windy City:
1. Stay at Chicago Athletic Hotel. This was one of the most memorable hotels I’ve stayed in! The iconic historic building of The Chicago Athletic Association opened in 1893 amid the boom surrounding the World’s Columbian Exposition. It was a members club and offered an escape from the city, with all the comforts of a well-appointed home—and excellent athletic facilities for its members to enjoy. After it closed in 2007 historic interiors were painstakingly brought back to life and the hotel was opened. You won’t regret booking a night (or few) in this gorgeous space.
Also you’ll enjoy the best breakfasts a hotel can offer!
2. Enjoy museums free entry with CityPASS. A lot of museums are included in your pass and getting one can save you a lot of dollars.
3. Have a cocktail with the best view in the city at Cindys Rooftop. Very convenient if you’re also staying in Chicago Athletic Hotel because Cindys situated on its rooftop.
4. Take the famous Architecture River Cruise
5. Go to the Immersive Experience at Lighthouse Artspace Chicago
6. Pop by for a drink with a stunning views of the downtown Devereaux Chicago Rooftop Bar
7. Dine at The Gage Chicago. Believe me you don’t want to miss their Caesar Salad!
8. Take a food tour of the West Loop
9. Visit Chicago Bulls game in the United Centre (it’s a must experience, so much fun!)
10. Fly over the city with Vertiport and Breeze Helicopters
And of course eat as much deep dish pizza as you can at Lou Malnatis!
